Kochi : Normal life in Kerala was affected on Thursday on account of the nationwide bandh called by the VHP-BJP combine in connection with the Amarnath shrine land row.
No violence has been reported from anywhere, police said.
Private buses, taxis and autorickshaws kept off the roads. However, two-wheelers and private cars were seen plying.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses also did not operate their services, police said.
The public sector Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) recorded an attendance of 72 per cent, CSL sources said.
Many schools in Ernakulam declared a holiday today on account of the bandh.
The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has rescheduled its counsellings, group discussions and interviews scheduled for today in view of the bandh.
