Oman Air, India's IBS in crew rostering, fleet management pact

Thiruvananthapuram:Oman's national carrier Oman Air has signed a pact with IBS Software, Indian provider of IT solutions for transport and logistics, to streamline the airline's crew rostering process and fleet management.

According to a statement issued by Oman Air Tuesday, the airline will use IBS's Velocity product suite, which includes AvientCrew for crew rostering and tracking, AvientFleet for fleet management and a close integration between the two to help optimize airline processes and resources.

"The investment programme agreed with IBS, one of the few IT product companies in India and a leading one in the world serving the travel, transportation and logistics (TTL) industry, meets our needs," Oman Air information computing head Habib Bhacker Habib said in the statement, adding the move follows the creation of a new corporate identity for the airline.

"Our airline is growing fast, and there was a pressing need for upgrading systems to keep up with software solutions provider to the global travel, transportation and logistics industry. IBS was preferred by Oman Air since all of its products in its lines of business have been fully accepted by the industry," he said.

AvientCrew is a sophisticated crew management system that provides an integrated solution that enhances decision support capability to support the entire crew management needs of Oman Air.

The system will assist in automatically generating cost-effective rosters that comply with governmental and regulatory requirements, airport restrictions, crew training, licensing and airline-specific requirements, as well as efficiently manage crew changes and disruptions on the day of operation.

AvientFleet will enable the airline to plan aircraft schedules and maintenance, continuously monitor all flight movements, ensure improved on-time performance for its fleet, and provide touch points to identify and alert controllers to help minimize disruptions to the operating schedule, according to the statement.

"We see this deal as the beginning of an important partnership that will enable us to help Oman Air directly address their rapid expansion plans," said V.K. Mathews, chairman and chief executive of the IBS group.

"Integration of crew and fleet operations will not only help build efficiency, but also reduce disruption costs."

IBS Software has offices in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Bangalore in India and its group companies operate in four global regions as wholly owned subsidiaries or business hubs.

For the Middle East and Africa, it operates out of Dubai.
